Secondary Drama Workshops
WW1 Through Poetry and Dance
This is a series of workshops that can be used as an 8 week programme of poetry and dance, or schools can pick and mix as they desire. All workshops will provide participants with an opportunity to explore words in a dynamic and exciting new way with the added bonus of movement and dance.
WW1 Movement Workshop: War Letters
A movement-based workshop which uses war letters from soldiers to their families to generate movement and dramatic scenes. The workshop gives pupils the chance to characterise movement, work with others to convey stories and work with real letters to inspire contemporary dance theatre sequences.
WW1 Dance and Literacy
Soldiers' Poems and Diaries
The workshop uses the poems and diary extracts written by British soldiers in the trenches as a way of having an insight into their lives, losses, day-to-day duties, their feelings, worries, and war on a ground level. Students of all ages will use these poems and extracts to create movement that best captures the mood of the texts.
