PRIMARY DRAMA

Practical Teacher INSET Course

Practical course which enables Primary teachers to gain the skills, confidence and knowledge to work effectively with drama in the classroom and across the curriculum. Links directly to the drama objectives in the QCA programmes of study for speaking and listening. Also suitable for Junior and Middle schools.

Contents include: exploring traditional story; improvisation and role-play; freeze frames; hotseating; dramatic conventions for exploring characters.

Duration: 2 hours - full day

FOUNDATION/KS1 DRAMA

Early Years Practical Teacher INSET Course

Provides the skills, confidence and knowledge to use drama as an effective teaching method with younger children. Links directly to early learning goals and KS1 drama objectives in QCA programmes of study for speaking and listening.

Contents include: circle games; freezes; mime; simple role-play; conventions for exploring characters.

Duration: 2 hours - full day

WORKING WITH SCRIPTS

Enables Primary and Middle school teachers to explore all aspects of script work, with specific emphasis on meeting the text level requirements of the National Literacy Strategy.

Contents include: speaking and listening games; creating scripts from stories; approaches for exploring Shakespeare; devising original scripts.

Duration: 2 hours - full day

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT

Practical course which promotes spatial awareness, develops musical interpretation, stimulates creativity and explores the links between drama, music and P.E. Simple but effective methods to use with any Primary year group.

Contents include: movement games; mirrors; mime; musical pictures; creating and developing stories; presenting performances.

Duration: 2 hours - full day

Rates include all planning, preparation, resources, materials and a free comprehensive teacher pack of support notes and resources.

No rate increase up to a maximum of 32 participants.

A discount of 10% (excluding travel expenses) will apply for multiple bookings made in a single transaction.

Repeat bookings to schools previously visited will benefit from a discount of 5%.

Bookings for organisations based 25 miles or more from Manchester city centre will incur additional travel expenses.

An additional flat rate increase of £10.00 will be charged for bookings which exceed the maximum number of participants.

Arts On The Move provides invoices for services. These will be submitted on the day and are subject to 30 day payment terms.

All teacher INSET courses:

  • can be devised and delivered to meet specific staff training needs
  • are strictly humiliation-free
  • can be delivered to a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 32 participants
  • include a free comprehensive teacher pack of support notes and resources - one copy per school
  • can be delivered in-house
  • can be extended or reduced according to your time constraints!
