MUSIC AND MOVEMENT

Enjoyable sessions which develop spatial awareness, encourage musical appreciation, promote group cooperation and stimulate creativity and imaginative responses. Including:

  • Mirrors and Mime - improves co-ordination and concentration through non-verbal expression
  • Story-telling Through Music - uses music as a basis for communicating and dramatic presentation

Most suitable for: Key Stages 1 and 2.

Duration: From 1 hour to a full day

CREATING SCRIPTS

A complete workshop which enables young people to devise and write an original playscript. Progressive activities lead from storytelling, through improvisation and scene construction, to the basic finished script.

Most suitable for: Key Stages 2 and 3.

Duration: From 3 hours to a full day

EXPLORING SHAKESPEARE

Practical workshops which explore Shakespeare's characters and their motivations, support understanding of the original text and examine play themes. Including:

  • Hamlet
  • Romeo and Juliet
  • Macbeth

Most suitable for: Key Stages 2 and 3.

Duration: From 2 hours to a full day

EXPLORING HISTORY

Practical, fact-filled sessions support and expand classroom history lessons, encouraging pupils to understand aspects of history from the personal viewpoint of those involved. Including:

  • Victorian Working Children - examines aspects of both domestic and working life and childhood changes
  • The Home Front/Evacuees - aids understanding of both city life and evacuated children during WW2

    The Primary Drama Workshop WW2: Evacuees and the Home Front offers examples of drama activities that have been used to explore the Home Front.

Suitable for: Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.

Duration: From 1 hour to a full day

Other historical drama workshops can be devised and delivered to meet school requirements and to link to other areas of the primary history curriculum.

WHOLE-SCHOOL DRAMA DAY

A variety of drama approaches, using a wide range of stimuli, are utilised to provide a comprehensive and rewarding day of drama for your whole school - from Reception to Year 6! Short workshops for each year group are designed to stimulate creativity, support drama and literacy objectives, provide excellent cross-curricular links and develop ideas for follow-on literacy and drama work.

Rates include all planning, preparation, resources, materials and a free comprehensive teacher pack of support notes and resources.

No rate increase up to a maximum of 36 participants.

A discount of 10% (excluding travel expenses) will apply for multiple bookings made in a single transaction.

Repeat bookings to schools previously visited will benefit from a discount of 5%.

Bookings for organisations based 25 miles or more from Manchester city centre will incur additional travel expenses.

An additional flat rate increase of £10.00 will be charged for bookings which exceed the maximum number of participants.

Arts On The Move provides invoices for services. These will be submitted on the day and are subject to 30 day payment terms.

Alternative pupil workshops can be devised to meet your specific curriculum needs.

All pupil workshops can be delivered as teacher INSET courses.

Each workshop is interactive, practical and involves a range of grouping dynamics aimed to develop both the individual and social skills of each participant.

Issues are addressed sympathetically and a supportive environment is created to facilitate a positive shared learning experience.
